Tom Brosseau & Friends Benefit Concert with Special Guests John C. Reilly and Terry Dullum Announced

All proceeds from the evening will benefit the Center for Exploration campaign to build a Children’s Museum in Grand Forks

The Empire Arts Center will host Tom Brosseau & Friends Concert featuring special guest John C. Reilly, and hosted by Terry Dullum, on Sunday, March 26th at 6:00 PM.

 

The concert will feature folk singer and Prairie Public Radio Host Tom Brosseau, Singer/Actor John C. Reilly, along with area musicians The Waddington Brothers, John Lardinois, Bob Cary, Heidi Gluck, and Tamara Bertram.

  1. Tom Brosseau

    1. Tom Brosseau is a folksinger and songwriter from North Dakota. He comes from a working family with a musical background, though none have received formal training. His grandmother, Lillian Uglem, taught him the acoustic guitar while he was in grade school. He has toured Japan, Canada, Portugal, Iceland, and Australia; performed in bars, backyards, grand halls, subways, theaters, retirement communities; exchanged songs and poetry with many talented artists, including Susan Orlean, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Patrick Marber, Bonnie Raitt, and the late Sam Hinton.

 

  1. John C. Reilly

    1. John C. Reilly is an American film and theatre actor. Debuting in Casualties of War in 1989, he is one of several actors whose careers were launched by Brian De Palma. To date, he has appeared in more than fifty films, including three separate films in 2002, each of which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. John was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Chicago and a Grammy Award for the song "Walk Hard," which he performed in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

 

  1. The Waddington Brothers

    1. The Waddington family (nine of them in all) spent many years touring the United States and Canada, performing gospel music. Music has been in these men's blood since early childhood. When Seth was 15 years old, and the twins were 12, they played in the “Frozen Fingers” Bluegrass Festival in Minot, ND with their sister Amanda playing the bass guitar. Since then, the brothers have performed at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, they have been featured guests on "Dakota Air, the Radio Show" on Prairie Public radio, as well as performing for North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple's inaugural ball in 2013.

 

  1. John Lardinois

    1. John “Jay” Lardinois has been recording and running sound at fiddle contests for nearly twenty years. He developed his love for the fiddle while playing guitar and pedal steel in honky-tonk bands during the 1980s. Playing guitar for his son, fiddle player John Lardinois Jr., was his best gig ever, he says.

 

  1. Bob Cary

    1. Diversified in ensemble experience, Bob Cary has been performing for over 25 years. The Red River Valley has been familiar with his playing ever since his Toyz days in college. Performing with several groups, including rhythm and blues ensembles, rock groups, and even providing bass support for comedians such as Martin Short and the Smothers Brothers as well as backing vocalist Prudence Johnson and rock and roll legend Bo Diddley. From on the road to in people's living rooms and everything in between, Bob continues to draw from the energy music provides with every satisfying gig he plays.

 

  1. Heidi Gluck

    1. Heidi Lynne Gluck is a Canadian-American musician, singer, and songwriter based in Lawrence, KS. She is a multi-instrumentalist solo artist, band member, producer, and studio musician. To date, Gluck has released two EPs, "The Only Girl in the Room" (2015) and "Pony Show" (2016).  She has also been a member of several bands, including Margot & the Nuclear So and So's and Some Girls. She has appeared on recordings for numerous other artists, including June Panic.

 

  1. Tamara Bertram

    1. Tamara Bertram has been teaching both violin and viola for 18 years. Tamara holds a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from the Milan Conservatory of Music (Italy) and a Masters in Music Performance from the University of North Dakota. She is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA),  is currently serving as president for the North Dakota Music Teachers Association (NDMTA) and vice president of the Greater Grand Forks Music Teachers Association (GGFMTA). Mrs. Bertram is a violin/viola coach for Northern Valley Youth Orchestras, and the choir director at Sacred Heart Church, East Grand Forks. She also performs regularly with the Greater Grand Forks Symphony and Bemidji Symphony Orchestras.

  1. Terry Dullum

    1. Terry Dullum is an award-winning journalist and one of the region’s most popular humorists, speakers and emcees. Terry was part of a newsroom that won a national Edward R. Murrow Award for coverage of the 1997 Red River Valley flood and an Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Award for team coverage in 2014. His award-winning human interest and feature stories have been seen on television stations around the country and on ABC's "World News Now.” His popular Dullum File video essays aired for more than 15 years on WDAZ and WDAY-TV.
