Public Arts Commission Presents "Flowers Through the Eyes of Warhol" Exhibition by the University of North Dakota's "Print Club" Curated by Vickie Arndt.

Grand Forks, August 1, 2023. The Public Arts Commission is delighted to announce the upcoming art exhibition, "Flowers Through the Eyes of Warhol," organized by the University's "Print Club." This exhibition celebrates the creativity and talent of the students in the art department who have come together to form an enthusiastic printmaking community.

The "Print Club" is an inspiring initiative by a group of passionate students who have been inspired by the excellent facilities and guidance provided by the university's art department. Although it is currently an unofficial club, the students are optimistic that many more will join them when classes resume this fall.

As an observer, it's evident that the existence of the "PrintClub" has the potential to foster a vibrant and supportive creative environment at the University of North Dakota and in Grand Forks. It is not only a place for students and local artists to develop their artistic skills but also a hub for finding inspiration and establishing meaningful connections within the artistic community. The potential for growth and impact is truly exciting, and we hope the club thrives and continues to inspire and nurture the passion for printmaking among its members.

The exhibition, "Flowers Through the Eyes of Warhol," takes inspiration from the iconic flower prints created by the renowned artist, Andy Warhol. Students from the "Print Club" have enthusiastically taken up the challenge of reinterpreting Warhol's "Flowers" series, resulting in an impressive body of work. The exhibition will showcase a series of black and white photographs that document the process of printmaking, lifting the mystique surrounding this art form and offering a teaching moment for both students and viewers. By taking a familiar subject, such as a bouquet of flowers, and elevating it to the realm of high art, the students' work serves as a testament to the power of creativity and reinvention.

The exhibition will be a celebration of the hard work and dedication put forth by the students, whose passion and talent continue to inspire us every day. It will provide an opportunity for art enthusiasts and the public to witness the incredible results of their efforts and appreciate the beauty and intricacies of printmaking.

We invite you to join us for the opening reception of "Flowers Through the Eyes of Warhol" at Alerus Center on September 7, 2023, reception from 5:00 to 7:00pm. The exhibition will run from August 2023 to December 2023, and we encourage everyone to explore and experience the remarkable artwork created by these talented students.
