Artist Statement:
”When I received the letter from Region 2 Arts Council in Bemidji, MN, letting me know that my idea for a sculpture in their first Sculpture Walk - I was in a treatment facility for drug and alcohol addiction. I never believed that my art would ever be worthy as a sober person. It was a huge Honor for me and one that I will always remember. I am still sober to this day - over 20 yrs now. The story of Dance of the Loon is a representation of eternal life together. The male will perform a dance for his love and upon acceptance they will mate for Life. That's how I felt when Jim and I met - partners in love for life. Through the thick and thin - good and bad - we are still together after 31 yrs. The story of Dance of the Loon - there is Life Everlasting even when Life feels lost. My belief in God and His Guidance throughout my life - He helped me to open my eyes to what could be - the Dance of Life. The sculpture was purchased by the City of Grand Forks, ND to represent the strength of the city after surviving the big flood.”
