This very theatrical event was conceived by Peter Brook and Jean-Claude Carriere at the International Center for Theater Research. It is based on the writing of the 12th Century Persian poet Farid ud-Din Attar. Conference of the Birds is the story of a group of birds who decide to take a journey to find God. Along the way, some become disillusioned and some give up. In the end, the surviving travelers discover that God is not outside of them, but that they are what is godly.
