7th UND Piano Fest will take place on October 22 (Saturday), and this year’s guest of honor is Dr. Susan Tang, a piano faculty at Northeastern Illinois University. She used to be on the faculty at UND Music during the period of 2008-2011. She will present a piano master class to UND piano students as well as a lecture recital on Florence Price’s piano music. The fest also features a world-premiere performance of a new piano collection “Polyptych” by UND Music’s composition faculty Dr. Christopher Gable. The piano faculty Dr. Sugiura received the Fine Arts and Humanities Scholarship Initiative Grant and commissioned Dr. Gable for a set of 24 piano preludes for the UND Piano Studio. Prior to the premiere, Dr. Gable will present a lecture on the compositions.
